Our challenge for October probably seems a bit simple, but it’s perhaps one of the most important disciplines we can build in life: learn to be still to seek God for direction and guidance. Oddly enough, Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:27 that “God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty”. This month’s challenge is about stepping back from the noise and confusion around us and doing something simple the world would call foolish: seeking to know the Lord!
Here’s the challenge: set aside some extra time (you decide how much) each week to seek the Lord for direction, guidance, and fellowship.
Exactly how we complete this challenge is going to look a little different for each of us. Perhaps it will involve waking up earlier to read God’s Word and pray, spending some time meditating on a verse or passage before bed, or taking an hour or two on weekends to go outside, enjoy creation, and spend some time alone with God in the wonders He made. Whatever you choose to do, the critical point is choosing to “be still” and know God.
Remember, knowing God means developing a relationship with Him, and to do that you must spend time together!
As with all of our challenges, try not to simply finish the challenge for the challenge’s sake. The goal is to spend time with the Lord, not check a box! Let’s join together seeking the Lord this month!
