August 2019: Meditating on Scripture

We’ve got an extra special challenge for you for August centered on another core principle of God’s Word: we’re going to be working on something we’re called to do in Psalm 1. There, David says a blessed man “delight[s] in the law of the Lord; and in His law doth he meditate day and night.” We’re going to work on meditating on God’s Word and making it a part of our lives!

Here’s our challenge: meditate on one new verse or passage each week through August!

Some suggestions for meditating:

  • Don’t pick too long of a verse or passage–the point of meditation is to be able to consider the truths of God’s Word at a very small level.
  • Pick out your verse or passage and write it down on a 3×5 card–that way it’s easy to carry with you and think about throughout the day.
  • Make a point to meditate on your verse or passage before going to bed.
  • Check and see if we have any VersePics for your verse—they exist to help you meditate on God’s Word!

As always, our goal is to build a habit of meditating, not just to get the challenge out of the way. Meditation in the Biblical sense doesn’t mean emptying your mind but filling it with God’s truth. Let’s join together to grow closer to the Lord through meditating on His Word!
